Tangerines

We have been working with Tangerine leopard geckos since they were first available on the market, back in the late 1990's. Our original Tang stock came from David Nieves, who began developing his line by line breeding the nicest high yellow leos with the most orange on the tails. He did this for a few years before he began to produce animals that not only had the bright orange tails bases, but also developed orange coloration on the bodies! He continued to line breed for several years to refine these Tangerines. By crossing these Nieves animals to some of the other beautiful Tang lines that were available (Hypo Tangerine Dreams, Albey and others), we began to produce Tangerines with a distinct look. These Tangs had a nice orange body color with deeper orange/red highlights, as well as lavender and even greenish colored markings. Most of them had pattern aberrancies and most had some black spots or pattern remaining. In 2004 we produced our most lovely example to date, and we named her "Electra" (aka the Psychedelic Gecko). We jokingly began referring to her and her siblings as "Electric Tangs" and then other leo fanatics began doing the same on the online forums. The name stuck and we are working very hard to continue refining this bloodline to produce even more spectacular looking geckos!
